Put residents first by treating us as the “customers” of government, ensuring respect and responsive service
Modernize the office and bring it into the 21st century with technology, innovation and accountable leadership
Make sure assessments are accurate and fair, so we can fund the services we need without asking hard-working families to keep paying more
Keep our local government accountable and protect the services our families rely on, like public schools, public safety, housing and solutions on homelessness
The Asessor's office doesn't get a lot of attention - but it matters a lot. We need to make sure that office runs correctly. And if we really want change, we need to bring in a fresh perspective - and that's what Yan will do.

Yan is the only state-licensed appraiser in the race. She has more professional training than any other candidate. She brings unmatched professional training that directly relates to the core responsibilities of the Assessor.
As a computer engineer in the semiconductor industry, Yan knows how to modernize outdated systems and bring the Assessor’s office into the 21st century. As a two-term mayor and longtime councilmember, she has managed budgets, put residents first, and proven her ability to deliver results.
Yan is also a mom and immigrant who came to this country speaking no English. She knows firsthand the importance of strong public services and wants to make sure our schools, hospitals, and neighborhoods have the funding they need.
The previous Assessor resigned unexpectedly and is now trying to hand the office to one of his deputies. Yan knows this important office should be earned – not handed down by political insiders. That’s why she’s running a grassroots campaign to earn the trust and support of our community.
As an electrical engineer, planning commissioner, councilmember, and former mayor of Saratoga, I understand both technology and public service. I’ve earned endorsements from congressional, state, and local officials, plus police officers, firefighters, and business owners.
But the most important endorsement is yours.
The Assessor’s role affects your property taxes, your schools, your home values, and community safety. I take this responsibility seriously because it impacts every family and business in our county. With my background in engineering and local government, I’ll bring the technical expertise and public service experience needed to modernize this critical office.
Together, we’ll create an Assessor’s office that serves you with transparency, accuracy, and professionalism.
I’m Yan Zhao, and I’m asking for your vote this November 4th for Santa Clara County Assessor.
